Role description:

The Plant Controller will develop, implement, and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.  The position will direct the preparation, analysis, and interpretation of financial reports and data required by the plant and corporate management including the month-end financial closing process.  It will act as a financial advisor and business partner to the plant team.  This role will report on, analyze, and help control spending and plant labor consistent with the budget. The Plant Controller will manage the day-to-day activities of the plant's financial staff.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare reports and analyses to help plant management make good business decisions.
  • Provide regular reporting of department and plant performance to the appropriate managers and participate in corrective action plans as needed.
  • Develop an annual business plan with assistance from department managers and corporate staff
  • Provide regular financial forecasts as required
  • Prepare and/or administer the preparation of month-end financial statements and associated journal entries
  • Analyze balance sheet accounts as required
  • Maintain timely and accurate production and inventory reporting system
  • Comply with environmental and food safety standards as set forth in plant policies and programs within the departmental responsibilities

 

Minimum skills / qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with integrated ERP systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with management and outside customers
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and technical skills
  • Good team dynamics and possess proficient planning and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work on-site daily
  • Limited travel (<20%)

 

Preferred skills / qualifications:

  • Manufacturing or cost accounting experience preferred
  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience with inventory control
