A vacancy has arisen within the Mould Repair Department at Irvine Plant for a Time Served Mechanical Engineer. The main purpose of this role is to repair and maintain mould equipment to specifications in order to ensure that mould equipment meets production requirements.

 

The position is offered on an annual contract of 1686 hours (37 hours per week Monday to Friday).

Flexibility will be required in relation to start and finish times along with the ability to cover production requirements over 7 days when required, for which the appropriate payment will be made.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify damage to mould equipment and repair using spray welding repair techniques and procedures.
  • Modify mould equipment in order to maintain quality standards.
  • Perform lathe work on mould equipment using standard and CNC lathes to ensure equipment meets specifications.
  • Carry out milling, drilling and grinding on mould equipment to ensure specifications are met.

 

Required skills / qualifications:

  • Must be a Time Served Mechanical Engineer with CNC experience, educated to HND level.
  • Have observation and analytical skills and give attention to detail.
  • Understand drawings relating to mould equipment.
  • Must be able to work on own initiative and as part of a high performing team in a process driven environment.
  • A good understanding of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Tools and continuous improvement.
  • An awareness of relevant Health & Safety and Hygiene Regulations.

 

What we offer:

  • Salary based on Grade 6 of the harmonised pay scales.  Minimum Grade £33,129 p.a. to maximum grade £37,901 p.a. and, after a successful probationary period, include a weekend rota shift allowance of £3,181 p.a.
