Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant performs various accounting tasks at the corporate office related to fixed assets, monthly accounting close (including related journal entry preparation and balance sheet reconciliations), intercompany reconciliations, and SOX documentation. This role will also support other finance tasks as needed. This position is based out of Chicago, IL. 


Job Duties:

  • Perform monthly closings duties, including preparation of standard journal entries and posting in SAP
  • Prepare and review analyses to ensure that all balance sheet accounts are supported per audit requirements
  • Perform monthly intercompany confirmations and reconciliations (including clearing related validations in HFM consolidation)
  • Manage the intercompany netting process and related journal entries
  • Prepare work papers as needed by internal and external audits
  • Execute tasks as required in the Capital Appropriation Request (CAR) system to document approvals and establish investment orders in SAP
  • Review and report capital project monthly spend vs budget and forecasts  as well as forecast for remainder of year
  • Partner with plant controllers and project managers to maintain fixed assets (including closing capital projects in a timely manner and disposing of assets as needed)
  • Post monthly depreciation
  • Monthly reporting on SG&A spend and variance analysis
  • Provide input for the budgeting and forecasting processes as needed
  • Complete SOX controls and documentation as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a finance or accounting discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience
  • Strong skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with the ability to learn new systems and tools quickly
  • SAP and HFM experience preferred
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including US GAPP and IFRS
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Possess excellent leadership & teamwork abilities, and organizational skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
