Primary Purpose: 

Under the direction of the Plant Controller, applies standard accounting principles and procedures to accurately reflect operational and facility performance for plant.

 

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Prepares balance sheet and income statement account analysis.
  • Prepares complete and accurate journal entries by the closing date on a monthly basis.
  • Supports preparation of facilities’ month end and year-end closing procedure and related reporting.
  • Insures the accuracy of account postings through weekly and monthly account analysis.
  • Supports cost reduction efforts.
  • Actively involved in physical inventory/cycle counts and reconciliations.
  • Works in conjunction with accounts payable department to insure accurate coding and timely payment to vendors.
  • Interprets and points out operational and financial trends and variances and summarized in related management reports.
  • Assists in establishing, maintaining and enhancing internal controls.
  • Prepares supporting schedules for financial statements preparation
  • Assist in budget and forecasting processes.
  • Maintains daily, weekly and where applicable monthly “dashboard” reporting key production information.
  • Assists in the review and finalization of expense reports submitted by hourly staff.
  • Reviews monthly billing information for reasonableness such as utilities, cellphone, telephone security and janitorial services.
  • Reviews and analyzes the hourly staff’s weekly payroll earnings and deductions for trends and anomalies. Duties will also include regular random spot check on completed time cards versus final time sheets for accuracy.
  • Assist in the reconciliation of scrap invoiced versus scrap receipts.
  • Assists and advises other departments as required in the areas of logistics, production planning, MRP and warehousing.
  • Assist the Plant Controller in ensuring MRO spares are accounted for correctly.
  • Other special ad hoc reports or projects as assigned.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 0-2 years in general accounting; preferable cost accountant at plant level
  • Plans to advance through MBA, CPA or CMA a plus
