To reinforce our team at any of our Ardagh Glass Plant in Europe we are looking for a Furnace Maintenance Team Foreman (m/f/d) in our CTS Department (Central Technical Services) as soon as possible.

The purpose of the position is to carry out furnace repairs and maintenance works in order to maximise lifetime performance of the furnaces.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Furnace, Forehearth and working end refractory maintenance both hot and cold, some examples are:
    • Hot sealing
    • Furnace flux line over coating
    • Regenerator cleaning
    • Crown repairs
    • New forehearths
    • Skimmer and mantle block changes
  • Refractory spout bowl changes.
  • Electrode advancing and refractory drilling.
  • Supervision of contractors on maintenance and repairs.
  • Furnace inspections.
  • Contribute technical expertise to major rebuild projects to ensure they deliver the technical functionality required by the factory.  Includes:
    • Furnace design specifications
    • Managing works/contractors on-site
  • Provide technical consultancy and trouble-shooting support in furnace and forehearth areas, to support the work of the factories.
  • Adhere to and enforce all Health and Safety regulations and policies at all times.
  • Follow and adhere to Company best working practices.
  • Commit to extensive travelling abroad.

 

Requirements: 

  • Extensive practical experience of Furnace repairs in the glass industry
  • Hot repairs
  • Experience of supervising a team
  • Electrode work and hot refractory drilling would be advantageous.
  • Glass plant knowledge with particular attention from batch plant to forehearths and production issues
  • Hands-on experience of working with refractories within the glass industry with particular attention to hot repair materials.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements
  • Steel fabrication and installation in hot conditions would be advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of refractory selection and installation
  • Understanding of furnace and fore hearth operations.
  • In-depth understanding of refractories
  • In-depth understanding of furnace design & construction
  • Good English language skills
  • Communication and problem resolution skills
  • Driving license
  • This position is based in Germany or the Netherlands, but the general commitment for business trips has to be available, also for unscheduled travel in case of problems
