Batch & Furnace Basement Team Leader

Role description

The purpose of this role is to lead a small team effectively in maintaining housekeeping in the basement areas, and also assist with managing domestic cullet levels in silo’s including colour changes.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of three batch & cullet operatives, who’s primary task is to maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the basement area, in accordance with Company Hygiene Rules and Departmental Procedures.
  • Assess and prioritise problem areas, managing the resources available from within the team. This will include constantly monitoring all areas of the basement and managing the team effectively to ensure all areas are kept to a high standard.
  • Report any areas needing maintenance or repair, promptly to departmental supervision and working closely with the Engineering dept to ensure repairs are done safely and have minimal impact on production and the operation of equipment in the basement. 
  • Operate and carry out routine checks on departmental vehicles. 
  • Work closely alongside B&F shift personnel and assist with managing domestic cullet silo levels to the required levels and utilising departmental vehicles to achieve this. When required, to assist in cullet movements on colour changes, which will involve working shifts when required. 
  • There will be a requirement to carry out work in other areas upon request by department supervision. e.g. headhouse areas, within the batch plant.
Required skills / qualifications:
  • Experience of leading a team
  • Understand the importance of raw material contamination and the impact on the business to develop General understanding of the Batch & Furnace Operation and routines.
  • Understanding of Dept emergency and environmental procedures
  • Ability to operate vehicles: Forklift Truck/Mechanical Shovel/Skid Steer Shovel/Cullet Lorry
  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Competitive salary based on Grade 5 of the harmonised pay scales; Salary min £29,000 - £31,717 max per annum.
