Plant HR Manager

Key Accountabilities:
- Performance Management: Work collaboratively with plant management to develop objectives and development goals that will create accountability and drive strong business results. Support management with coaching techniques for hourly employees.
- Employee Relations: Review and advise on all personnel actions including merit increases, promotions, transfers, and discipline. Ensure the uniform application of policies and procedures. Manage grievance process.
- Recruiting: Develop local networks and manage recruiting in a cost effective and timely manner using existing Company guidelines.
- Discipline: Act as a neutral advocate for employees and the company. Coordinate discipline within the plant and conduct thorough investigations as needed.
- Compensation: Ensure salary decisions meet existing Company guidelines and obtain necessary approvals per audit guidelines. Understand the local market and make recommendations regarding compensation strategy.
- Safety: Manage and track safety training, plant incidents/accidents and safety programs, plus case management for worker’s compensation, to ensure our employees work in a safe environment.
- Training & Development: Train plant leadership to build skill, proficiency and knowledge of techniques in management and the supervision of employees. Assist in the development of training initiatives for our employees.
- Engagement: Support management in identifying, analyzing, and resolving human resources trends or problems to maintain high levels on involvement and accountability from employees.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor and employment laws. Assist in the creation and implementation of general personnel policies and procedures.
- Communication: Develop and facilitate effective programs to communicate with employees at all levels and provide solutions that support positive business results.
- Projects: Assist sector HR leadership in projects as needed.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Master’s degree in HR preferred
- Five years of progressive experience in Human Resources at a management level.
- Experience independently identifying, developing and leading key strategic projects to meet corporate business goals.
- Ability to guide efforts of plant-level HR resources to identify opportunities and lead change.
- Knowledge of HRIS and payroll software to assure accurate record-keeping, reporting, and administrative compliance consistent with regulatory and internal practices.
- Ability to utilize available data for assessment of current state on progress of key initiatives.
- Previous experience driving positive results in a union environment.
- Experience in establishing effective approaches to improve employee engagement.
- Effective in problem-solving and dispute resolution.
- Experience and comfort working in a team-based matrix environment at a high level.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of employees especially during difficult and challenging situations.
- Knowledge in the area of talent acquisition, performance management and retention.
- Experience in preparing and delivering training to employees on a number of HR/policy topics.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
