Role description: 

The Shipping and Warehouse Supervisor works with customers, suppliers, and employees to meet requirements of on-time deliveries without error or damage to shipments. This role also manages the day-to-day operations of the warehouse and shipments while supervising employees. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborates with the health and safety team to administer an effective safety program 

  • Lead quarterly cycle counts 

  • Determine the best location for storing products to maximize space and convenience 

  • Create outbound shipments based on forecasted need 

  • Assign shipping and warehousing locations, coordinate shipping releases with customers and plant shipping employees, and adjust shipping schedules as needed 

  • Maintain a clean and orderly warehouse 

  • Manage direct reports by providing coaching, skills development opportunities, and cross-functional training 

  • Manage employee relations such as timesheet reviews and time off requests 

  • Utilize class tracking systems (SAP, WMS, WM, AGV, etc.) to provide the company with maximum visibility and ability to make timely and informed decisions with finished goods inventory towards customer fulfillment 

  • Comply with environmental and food safety standards as outlined in plant policies and programs within the department 

 

Minimum skills / qualifications:  

  • High School Diploma or equivalent 

  • Three (3) years of experience in the distribution center, warehousing, and shipping  

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite 

  • Previous experience with a warehouse management system 

  • Proficient communicator and organizational skills 

  • Ability to problem solve and work within a team environment 

  • Proven ability to take initiative 

 

Preferred skills / qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain, or a related field 

  • Previous supervisory experience 

  • Previous experience in a union environment 

  • Previous experience working with SAP
