Global R&D Director Lacquers, Printing, and Process Innovation

Purpose of the Job: The Global R&D Director Lacquers & Printing and Process Innovation is responsible for identifying, planning, and implementing assigned AMP roadmap of projects, services, process improvements or qualifications for ODMs and materials innovations to achieve the safety, quality, standardization, cost reduction and efficiency objectives of each region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate internal and external customer requests and work with region team members to develop and propose strategies to provide solutions to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations by developing Business Cases with potential can or end direct materials cost savings opportunities with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Suppliers.
- Manage a high number of complex projects through all stage gates internally and externally from idea conception to full plant rollout via the regional R&D teams and commercialization to the approved budget and timeline.
- Lead dedicated expert/specialist teams in a confined, dedicated field of expertise, identifying resource needs and establish capital project budgets to support the global business objectives.
- Provide methodology for the technical assistance to complaints, qualifications and services (e.g. analytical and testing services) to the regions and laboratory to resolve quality and/or productivity issues.
- Provides methodology of technical support to technical licensees in the areas of direct materials reduction, technical documentation and product problem resolution, ensuring timely execution of team deliverables such as high-quality products or service and documentation
- Leads cross-regional and cross-functional project teams with suppliers and universities that are beneficial to the global goals of the organization.
- Oversee the development and testing of new materials and formulations.
- Lacquers Can and End specifications ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Manage and approval of project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.
- Provide technical support and expertise to internal and external stakeholders
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the R&D team.
- Personnel decisions (hiring, etc.) Execution within approved project matrix
- Technical Support and Technical Assistance Methodology for the innovations roll outs
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant area (Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Print Engineering), from an Accredited College or University
- Master's Degree Preferred
- Minimum of 5-10 years of management/project management experience
- 5-10 years of experience in Coating and Printing Technologies
- Global Project management experience
- Financial analysis of project business impact (payback timing/ROI and modeling)
- Experience with IP/patenting language and comparative design review
- Familiarity with Six Sigma development tools and methodologies beneficial
- Excellent language skills in English (speaking and writing)
- Experience in management of Global Projects
- Experience in management of product or process (equipment) development teams
- Experience in management of projects of high technical complexity
- Experience in product development working in an engineering, business unit, or manufacturing role

The anticipated base annual salary range for this role is between $153,100 and $229,700 per year. This role is bonus eligible. The bonus incentive program is based on company meeting or exceeding targets. Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate and is only applicable for roles that are based out of Illinois. The final salary will be determined after considering relevant factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate’s qualifications, experience, and work location, where appropriate.
