The IT Engineer - Cloud Infrastructure oversees the cloud infrastructure, business partners, and support processes for the Ardagh NA IT cloud (Azure) hosting solutions. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day cloud hosting operations, change management, and recovery solutions to ensure an efficient, reliable, responsive, and secure cloud solution. This role also manages complex technology changes including data center to cloud moves, transformation of cloud infrastructure, consolidation and optimization of server landscape, and working with partners to identifying appropriate architecture, requirements, and implementation plans. This person is expected to have a strong track record in roles requiring managerial, technical and project management excellence, with the ability to oversee and deliver large, complex technical initiatives and projects across the NA cloud space.


  • Responsible for the design, development, implementation, testing and management of enterprise Azure Cloud environment within budget, time and scope.
  • Ensure security, best practices and documentation exist for all new infrastructure related systems and applications as they are implemented
  • Manage usage and consumption of cloud assets and maintain costs within budget for cloud invoices.
  • Work with 3rd party vendors to effectively build Azure Cloud environment from scratch and effectively transition from on prem environment
  • Responsible for project management of cloud initiatives, including oversight and delegation of project scopes and objectives, project planning documentation, communication, task resource availability management, change and risk management, project performance tracking to ensure projects are completed to high standards of quality, on time, within scope and budget.
  • Evaluate business and technology requirements to determine the best fit for environment
  • Recommend strategies and standards for all platform infrastructures
  • Drive continuous improvement within the IT organization
  • Partner with different IT teams, customers, partners and stakeholders to understand business requirements for administration, configuration, and support for maintenance or enhancement of existing systems
  • Ensure that solutions meet all compliance, legal, internal controls, and accounting standards
  • Will require some weekend and off hour shifts to support migration activities and incident management.
  • Mentor and support other team members within the IT organization
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required
  • Communicates progress, expectations and escalation of problems to management for awareness and/or resolution.
  • Assist in the development of technology roadmaps
  • Work closely with management to prioritize issues and modify the plan as necessary based on changing priorities.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have experience with Azure architecture, ground up
  • 5+ years’ experience in systems and architecture design, including 3+ in a multisite, corporate environment – manufacturing ideal
  • Experience implementing Azure AD, IaaS and PaaS services and migrating SAP and non-SAP workloads to Azure.
  • High level of background troubleshooting and supporting Windows and Linux server operating systems
  • Strong IT engineering background with knowledge or technology architecture, cloud, infrastructure, network, and security
  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in a relevant IT field
  • Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications are a plus
  • Solid understanding of networking including switches, routers, LAN cabling, racks, TCP/IP, DNS, and Cisco VoIP
  • Ability to research and analyze complex problems, determine root-cause, and implement corrective action.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills including communication, mentoring, coaching, and the ability to interact with colleagues at all levels.
  • Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
