Internal Communications Manager

Purpose of the role: Drive understanding across North American employee base of company strategies, objectives, tactics and accomplishments.

 

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Lead internal communications, working closely with all levels of the organization, to drive understanding of company objectives by creating (writing/editing/production) such vehicles as business updates, videos, newsletters, announcements, team meetings, leadership presentations and leadership team conferences.
  • Build a true understanding of the business in order to lead and support headquarters and plant messaging across such topics as safety, business objectives, customer needs, local community and charity efforts, etc.
  • Work closely with plant management and teammates of all levels to understand unique location characteristics to effectively support leadership in driving understanding and achievement of plant and company objectives.
  • Support all functional leader communications, working closely with department heads to  enable them to communicate company objectives, progress and answer questions for their respective teams.
  • Guide and support AMP – NA Human Resources in communicating people development initiatives, including Diversity and Inclusion objectives and programs, while further positioning the organization on a positive path toward realizing a culture based on articulated company purpose and values.  
  • Assist with customer and marketing communications regarding product and service offerings, supporting the Sales function in strengthening customer commitments.
  • Measure the effectiveness of internal communications and vehicles on an ongoing basis and make recommendations to amend the strategy as appropriate in increasing effectiveness.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications or Business with at least seven years of progressive leadership experience, ideally in a B2B environment, across branding, content creation, marketing and/or communications.
  • Superior writing skills, able to create motivational content on-time and with accuracy.
  • Able to translate and simplify company budget and strategy objectives to internal communications content and vehicles that motivates stakeholders and drives performance.
  • Has consistently developed strong relationships across all levels of an organization to effectively guide and support teams in managing all communications needs.
  • Ability to multi-task and support multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must have strong design and creative skills, the ability to generate new ideas and concepts, and a strong command of formats, graphics and layout.
