Mould Shop Manager

Doncaster, Executive Contract on Days

 

Ardagh Glass is a critical working business and has proudly operated continuously throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Doncaster business unit has manufactured glass containers since 1968 and is part of a leading supplier in glass packaging solutions for the world’s leading brands.

Open to internal and external candidates, due to an internal transfer we are currently seeking to recruit a Mould Shop Manager, reporting to the Production Manager at Doncaster.  The position holds responsibility for managing the supply, repair and modification of mould equipment to meet production requirements allowing the business to manufacture glass containers for the food and drink industry. The role is ideally suited for someone who enjoys leading a team of people and gets job satisfaction from a challenging but rewarding role.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Health & Safety for self and others within area of responsibility
  • Lead and manage the Mould Shop team and help the team leaders coordinate the department
  • Develop, train and support the engineers to allow engineers to be competent to perform their roles
  • Absence management and ensure people are correctly paid through the Time and Attendance system
  • Plan, and provide, sufficient resources to ensure timely repair of mould equipment to meet a dynamic job change schedule
  • Ensure provision of suitable machinery, tools, inspection and gauging equipment for gear repair to required standards
  • Ensure repair practices and mould equipment are adequate to achieve or exceed expected mould life
  • Work within budget and ensure mould equipment is ready available for production
  • Champion the use of lean tools & promote continuous improvement across the department

  • Excellent Leadership / Management skills & behaviours
  • The desire to demonstrate the Company Core values at all time
  • Experience and knowledge working within a Mould Shop department and is a qualified engineer
  • Know and follow departmental, company policy and procedures
  • IT/Computer skills and able to record data accurately
  • Communicate confidently & effectively at all levels of the business
  • Dedication towards continuous improvement from an operational perspective and also personal development
  • The ability to achieve operational targets such as KPI’s and work well with other departments to help them meet their own objectives
