Role description
To operate glass container packaging equipment and report any malfunctions or defects to maintain efficiency and quality.
Responsibilities:
- Check that containers are packed using correct materials and labelled correctly in order to meet customer requirements and comply with packaging specifications
- Observe the packaging equipment and report any mechanical malfunctions or container defects that may occur to supervision
- Repair any basic faults and jam ups, with the packaging equipment, if possible, or report immediately to supervision
- Complete and record APS checks to provide an accurate reference point
- Assist after job change to establish and maintain effective operation of packaging equipment
- Rework / repack of production as requested by the QC Foreman and carry out housekeeping as required in line with the Company’s Health & Safety and Hygiene regulations
- Carry out packed ware audit quality checks
Required skills / qualifications:
- Ability to interpret Packaging Specification information and pack glass manually in event of equipment failure
- Ability to use Company fork trucks – where appropriate training has been given and licence attained
- Good observing skills
- Ability to recognise and respond to basic mechanical malfunctions and container defects
- Familiar with Cold End work areas and equipment
What we offer
- Salary Minimum £36,207 - £41,571 Maximum Per annum Grade 4
- Salary sacrifice pension scheme with up to 10% matched contributions
- Normal shift pattern is determined by the 5-crew shift rota, however, typically consists of a two 12-hour day shifts followed by two 12-hour night shifts and then a six-day rest period which includes 21 shifts holiday when working the 5 crew 12-hour shift rota -Holidays are built into the shift 5 crew
