Group Procurement Excellence Manager (Hybrid)


Procurement has started an extensive transformation programme to modernise the function and accelerate value delivery to enable Ardagh’s sustainable and competitive growth. The role holder has key responsibilities in building the Ardagh Procurement community with globally harmonized and standardized processes. The Procurement Excellence Manager will lead initiatives of the Procurement Excellence team at Global level and will drive change management, communication and implementation across all Regions and Business Units.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities   

  • Drive procurement process improvements across P2P processes, to simplify the buying process and make it easy for employees to get the goods and services they need to be productive while ensuring that processes deployed are aligned with the risk and controls framework and conform to the Procurement Policy.
  • Partner across functional areas to develop the best process and technological solutions for an effective P2P process environment, including consideration of a Shared Service delivery model.
  • Provide leadership, coordination, and direction for all elements of the P2P scope and manage risk /scope to deliver workstream on time and in budget.
  • Lead strategic cross-functional projects across the entire spectrum of Procurement Excellence (Risk Management, Supplier Performance Management, Sustainable Procurement, Compliance etc).
  • Review, define and implement best-in-class procurement processes, procedures and workflows to deliver maximum business benefit. 
  • Use process quality standards, best practices, process mining and other methodologies that seek to improve processes that will enable operational excellence, effectiveness and efficiency
  • Develop the path for Procurement in Ardagh through continuous development and delivery of Procurement capabilities.
  • Deliver change management and training to proactively promote new processes and the use of new tools and methodologies
  • Collaborate with Global Procurement process end-users (category management & strategic sourcing and tactical purchasing teams) to identify opportunities to drive process automation and/or optimize processes, systems and linkages
  • Design, deploy and maintain best in class category management and sourcing processes and standards across the Global Procurement Function.
  • Support category teams with services such as Spend analytics, cost modelling, fact-based negotiation, game theory, etc
  • Ensure consolidation of accurate, properly categorized and transparent Global Procurement data and reporting.
  • Stay abreast of current trends and continually identify best practices in procurement from inside and outside of Ardagh for implementation/ adoption
  • Collaborate with Legal and Category Management Leads supporting the development of master agreements for specific sourcing categories; recommend processes and criteria for the use of those
  • Develop training material and train users on Global Procurement technology, processes and supporting tools
  • Build rapport and secure buy-in from cross-functional stakeholders for major procurement initiatives and act as procurement ambassador.
  • Engage in internal and external audits on the procurement processes. 
  • Delivering results through influencing and engaging.

 

Key Deliverables:

  • Delivering the Procurement Excellence workstreams 
  • Lead strategic programs specifically looking at establishing world-class standards on Category Management, SRM, Source-to-Contract and Sustainability in Procurement
  • Proactively manage supplier risk and compliance, closely collaborating with internal and external risk management and controls teams/organizations as needed
  • Deploy an effective Procurement Policy and drive compliance towards it
  • Enable Procurement value delivery by catalyzing best practice sharing across categories, regions and business units.
  • Drive the development of new opportunities and ways of working by integrating new technologies (digital etc.)

Knowledge / Skills / Experience

  • University degree
  • IIPMM or CIPS related qualification an advantage 
  • Multi-year experience in developing, deploying and maintaining best in class procurement (technology) solutions and frameworks
  • Experience in category management
  • Multi-year expertise in procurement methodologies and concepts such as SRM, Risk Management, Contracting, Sustainability, Policy and Compliance Management
  • Extensive knowledge of procurement tools and data, content and automation
  • Proven ability to work in a cross-functional team in a multicultural organisation
  • Experience in a similar environment of transformation and change
  • Effectively leading multi-discipline teams to deliver sophisticated projects
  • Adept at working in an agile project environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound knowledge on procurement metrics, performance tracking and data integrity
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various business functions and senior leadership
  • Strong management and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence others
  • Demonstrated ability of program management and process improvement
  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Office programs
  • Experience in use and deployment of e-sourcing tools (e-sourcing, e-auction, sourcing optimization tools)
  • Ability to think globally and act locally combining strategic thinking and excellence in execution with strong accountability and responsibility for achieving results
  • Resilience and ability to prioritise when facing conflicting demands and high workload
  • Fluency in English
