Role Description: 

Lead and direct plant maintenance and engineering functions follwing the lead of the Plant Engineer. These include preventative maintenance, managing breakdowns of electrical, electronic, robotic and mechanical systems, and CAPX spending.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive a "safety first" mentality in the maintenance department.
  • Direct the reactive and proactive maintenance and engineering activities on all equipment and facilities and develop and manage capital projects for the continuous improvement of the plant facilities. 
  • Coordinate all modifications, additions and repair projects in the plant including those performed by or scheduled by outside contractors and corporate staff. 
  • Supervise and direct the scheduling of hourly and salaried maintenance personnel to increase operational effectiveness, reduce downtime and equipment failure, drive KPI. 
  • Promote a healthy environmental throughout the facilities, always striving for zero accidents and complying with governmental regulations. 
  • Lead the maintenance apprenticeship program and direct the training for the apprentices and journeyman. 
  • Direct the purchasing/receiving function to ensure adequate parts on hand and control associated costs.
  • Perform administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department including establishing effective working relationships with plant employees, the union, other departments and corporate. 

Job Requirements 

  • Ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering; electrical engineering is preferred.
  • Must have demonstrable computer skills, including PLC programming expertise, and in Microsoft applications.
  • Must have 10 years of related experience in manufacturing with exposure and understanding of environmental issues and have experience with lean manufacturing; union setting is preferred.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a team-based environment. 

Must have excellent leadership, interpersonal communication, planning, organizational and problem-solving skills.
