People Development Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Apprenticeship Programs (IS Operator, Machine Repair, Electromechanic, Mold Maker)
    • Department of Labor Correspondence
      • Apprentice Registrations, Progress and Completions
      • Program Inquiries, Complaints, Audits
      • Monitoring of the RAPIDS database for overdue apprentices
      • Handle GI bill process with Veterans and Veteran Administration
      • Processing Apprenticeship Certificates of Completion
    • Apprenticeship Committee Meetings
      • Coordinate and attend all monthly local committee meetings as minute recorder/facilitator
      • Coordinate monthly apprentice evaluations/progress and meeting attendance with management
      • Work with committees as needed to ensure each apprentice is getting the proper OJT training
    • Related Instructional Training Programs
      • Coordinate & oversee apprentice scheduling of all training classes held to accommodate program requirements (AIS)
      • Review and track apprentices status on related instruction - coordinate plan with management to address apprentices that are falling behind
      • Maintain online curriculum
      • Work with local colleges to ensure their curriculum standards are met.
    • On the Job Training
      • Coordinate and track all apprentice OJT tasks
      • Ensure OJT checksheets and matrices are completed
      • Prepare and Deliver SOP/TOP/BP training as needed
    • Reporting
      • Maintain monthly reporting and communication dashboards for all apprentices status
  • Onboarding
    • Coordinate with HR & EHS for new hire onboarding training
    • Organize, communicate and track training initiatives
  • Grant Funding Activities
    • Maintain State Department Relations
    • Apprenticeship/IWTP OJT Grant Searches, Applications and funding sources
      • Search, apply and execute necessary steps to obtain funds
      • Track grant progress and report necessary details to close out with grant provider
  • Train the Trainers
    • Journeyworkers, Crewleads and Managers
      • Mentor and Coach designated leaders/trainers in instructional delivery methods
  • Content Creation
    • Create training content
      • Develop appropriate training materials such as one point lessons, visual aids, SOPs, PPTs, videos or e-learning modules based on need
    • Lead Plant Content Creation Team
      • Coordinate and steer the plant content creation team to create new content as advised by the Governance Committee for MyLearning
  • Continuous Training Enhancement
    • All employees
      • Ensure that all employees skills are maintained and refreshed on a regular basis
      • Conduct training needs assessments
      • Work with management to execute gaps between TNA and reality
    • Succession Planning
    • Participate in plant succession planning and ensure training plan completed/executed for employees earmarked within process

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development or related discipline.
  • The qualified candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years experience working relevant People Development in a manufacturing environment with union and safety exposure. Professional certifications are a plus.
  • Must have prior experience in leading large-scale system-wide change initiatives.
  • Must have in depth knowledge Organizational Development & Organizational Behavior theories, methods and applications.
  • Individual must be a self-starter, possess the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment, and have experience dealing with confidential matters.
  • Must also possess the ability to interpret and resolve sensitive and complex issues, communicate, respond and support all levels of organizational staff.
  • Must have strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal and written/oral communication skills, as well as strong computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Applications such has Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as have a firm working knowledge of e-learning software and authoring tools. MyLearning, Articulate 360 and Camtasia knowledge is a plus.
