Purpose of the Role: Plans and executes electrical shop activities by Interfacing with Engineering Department and Production control.  Prioritizes and maintains costs and shop work schedules to ensure deadlines are met. Anticipates and identifies production holds, including material or labor constraints, Provides technical assistance to direct reports to resolve quality or productivity issues.  Establishes and monitors production schedules and manufacturing orders from production release through completion. This position will also work in conjunction with Electrical Engineering Department on projects of varying sizes to generate / correct electrical schematics, assembly drawings and BOMs in compliance with company standards.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Promote plant safety rules, safety awareness and compliance by maintaining a safe production floor and coaching and mentoring employees on best practices for working safely.
  • Manage Hazardous E- Waste compliance, for facility.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and toolbox talks with direct reports.
  • Secondary supervisor for our assembly department when primary supervisor is not available.
  • Achieves all production objectives through proper planning to meet production schedules and delivering high quality products
  • Generate Cost estimates for Electrical project costs.
  • Supervises the daily activities and sets priorities for the production team to meet project targets.
  • Maintains necessary records/documents of production work performed.
  • Mediate employee issues so to insure a good working environment
  • Evaluate job performance of department direct reports; develop plans for employee growth.
  • Assign duties and coordinate off site jobs
  • Provide training of new technologies and Conduct required employee training.
  • Interact with Engineering to find best and most cost-effective way to accomplish projects.
  • Understanding of UL Requirements.  Manage/Oversee UL records and procedures, quarterly audits, Labeling and conformance to the National Electrical Code.
  • Manages staff performance, development and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations.
  • Perform other Job-related duties as assigned.
  • May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary


Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

  • Degree in electrical engineering or 7+ years’ experience in Designing, programming and implementing control Systems utilizing various PLCs, AC Drives and Communication Protocols.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a supervisor in a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience with SAP or an MRP/ ERP system is preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical and machine build experience preferred
  • Knowledge of the following Electrical Standards; CSA, NR-12 and CE.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and Kaizen philosophies.
  • Skilled in the interpretation of assembly / engineering drawings
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong people skills including communication and organizational skills
  • Problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge in using specialized hand and power tools
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
  • Agility to stand, bend, kneel climb, reach, pull and lift up to 50lbs
