Makes adjustments to and operates can decorating and coating machinery and related equipment; assists in repairing and maintaining this equipment as directed.

1.  Adjusts and operates all machinery relating to the decorating and coating (both internally and externally) of can bodies.  This includes the operation of the printer, attachments, coating ovens and the internal and bottom coating equipment and mechanical control devices.

2.  Examines cans which have been washed, decorated and coated to determine conformance to specifications; makes adjustments to equipment, such as registry, ink distribution, spray angles and patterns, etc. to restore operations to requirements; assists maintainer with correction of problems.

3.  Inspects equipment to prevent breakdowns, lubricates and makes adjustments for wear.  Keeps machines clean and operational.

4.  Reads and follows procedural manuals, manufacturers' equipment guide guides and operating records and logs for production and maintenance requirements.

5.  Service equipment by adding oil or lubricants and inks and lacquers to reservoirs; mounts and installs new plates and blankets; clears jams in machines and transfer equipment.

6.  Observes safety regulations and practices to afford protection to both self and others; sees that equipment and floors are maintained in a neat and clean manner at all times, cares for and protects tools and instruments which may be assigned

7.  Refers unusual or critical needs to supervisor.

8.  High School Diploma or equivalent required
