Accounts Receivable Collections Specialist

Role Description: 

The Account Receivable Collections Specialist will be in our Fishers, Indiana Shared Services Headquarters. The selected candidate will maintain customer alliances regarding full financial settlement initiatives based on root cause analysis, and strategic imperatives for a distinct customer base.  Candidate will interact with customers, sales management and numerous internal areas that have an impact on the revenue settlement cycle and be responsible for resolving payment barriers for their assigned accounts while understanding the complexities of the business.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • The selected candidate will optimize cash flow through timely turnover of Accounts Receivable focused on understanding the complexities of the Ardagh Group
  • Analyze AR understanding the specific nuances of the customer base. Manual reconciliation of customer discrepancies and constant communication with customers via phone and email.
  • Collaborate with the AR Supervisor and Credit Analyst to appropriately identify risk customers and enforce credit terms, limits and restrictions.
  • Obtains a good understanding of customer requirements, and programs.
  • Partners with Cash Application and Deductions Analyst to improve the deduction process and work the accounts more effectively.
  • Pursue repayment of invalid deductions utilizing AR counterpart.
  • Work with Customer Service, Sales, Supply Chain, Distribution, IT, and other departments to improve current processes to eliminate deductions where possible.
  • Understand customer websites (where applicable) and how to retrieve remittance backup.
  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend solutions.
  • Review AR aging with AR Supervisor to ensure meeting DSO/balance goals.
  • Ability to analyze and reconcile customer accounts.
  • Actively participate in ongoing team training and cross-functional teamwork to ensure accounts are worked efficiently.
  • Share best practices that result in process improvements.

 

 

Requirements:

  • BS/BA in Accounting, Business or Finance preferred.
  • 3-5 years accounts receivable experience. 
  • Strong leadership, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Process management experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated systems/technical skills, including ERP (preferably SAP) and advanced Excel skills. 
  • Must have a teamwork orientation.

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as contract, ability to write advertising, reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employess of organization.  Mush have proven exceptional written presnetation and verabl communication skills.  

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of complicated math, alegbra and analytic skills.  

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out instrutions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involvin several concrete variables in standardized situations.
