This position is responsible for the administration of Health and Welfare Programs within Ardagh Group North America and must perform complex administrative duties and provide exceptional customer service to employees, retirees, managers, and vendors. The individual supports the HR team to ensure the total benefits/rewards programs enhance the company’s ability to recruit and retain talent.

  • As first point of contact ensure compliance with all federal programs such as HIPAA, COBRA, and FMLA.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and issues in a timely manner, providing fast, equitable, and courteous resolution.
  • Work with benefit vendors and insurance carriers to resolve data, eligibility, and coverage issues.
  • Process and maintain health, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, Health Savings Accounts and legally mandated benefit information, enrollment documentation, and life-status changes
  • Conduct benefits orientation and training activities for new hires, employees newly eligible for benefits, and open enrollment.




  • Monitor and update benefits related content and support the development of benefits booklets, SPDs and other legal communications. 


Project Support

  • Support projects such as implementation of new benefits plans and programs, as requested by manager.
  • Assist with the development of business requirement for new benefits implementations or modifications, system enhancements and testing, and other ad hoc requests.
  • Prepare reports and analyze data as required concerning benefit enrollment and coverage issues; audit file input and system setup
  • Partner internally within other HR Shared Services. Consult externally with vendors and other legal/ regional experts as needed.


Vendor Management

  • Support managers in managing all benefits vendor relationships.
  • Support the RFP process including working with vendors, external consultants, or internal procurement, and legal resources on assigned tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certified Employee Benefit Specialist Certification, Associate Degree, or equivalent.
  • Minimum five years of benefits, insurance, or Human Resources experience.
  • Must possess expert knowledge of relevant laws and regulations applicable to plan administration such as, ERISA, COBRA, HIPPA and the Affordable Care Act.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills, maturity, and excellent judgment, including the ability to handle highly confidential information.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with a diverse range of employees and family members.
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and web-based enrollment software.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and conduct benefit presentations.

Salary Grade:                    P5

Target Bonus:                   10%

Reports to:                        Manager, Benefits

Travel:                               <5%


Environment & Physical requirements:


  • A normal office environment with minimal plant exposure requiring hearing, eye protection, and exposure to heat.                                                        
  • Hearing and eye protection must be worn in the plants, as well as other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
