The Manufacturing Development Program (MDP) is a unique initiative within Ardagh Group's Glass North America business. It is a program for developing skilled supervisors and managers within the company. It is designed to provide solid glass manufacturing experience for hands on individuals who are seeking a career, not just a job in manufacturing. The objective of the Manufacturing Development Program is to provide its members with a broad manufacturing experience and a sound understanding of the glass composition and production process including technical, quality, safety and supervisory skills during an intense 12-15 month program. The program will consist of work assignments and related technical and non-technical seminars that will lay a strong foundation for future careers in manufacturing helping members learn glass manufacturing operations at an accelerated pace. MDP members will;

  • Become assimilated into the Ardagh Group organization by participating in a comprehensive orientation program.
  • Be assigned a mentor and will work at various plant locations as part of their rotation within the glass manufacturing operations.
  • Be exposed to every functional department and work on special assignments to help the plants meet their goals and satisfy the needs of the customers.


Candidate Requirements:

  • Ideal candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in an engineering field OR must be transitioning out of a military engineering-related career
  • Must be open to relocation and travel. It is likely that an MDP participant will work at two different plants during the program.
  • Must be motivated by solving problems and have strong problem solving skills.
  • Must have a willingness to learn take initiative and accept challenging and difficult projects.
  • Must have the commitment and drive to excel as an individual technical lead and team player.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to change in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to own a problem, create a corrective action plan, and implement the change.
  • Excellent communication and social skills are required as well as having strong organizational planning and time management skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft applications including Excel.


Environment and Working Conditions:

  • Must be willing to work rotating shifts in a plant manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, fumes, and moving machinery.
  • Requires a significant amount of walking and stair climbing in a hot environment.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hearing and eye protection steel toe boots as well as other PPE as required.
  • Comply with all Food Safety and Environmental regulations
  • Must have a legal right to work in the United States and have a valid driver's license.
