General Function

The Regional Procurement Manager will be responsible for providing leadership, mentoring and training to the newly formed regional procurement team. In total the regional manager will be responsible for the non-category spend in approx. 30 locations across North America. The role manages and monitors all purchasing and stores activities for compliance with Group contracts, required for the operations of the facilities in accordance with the Purchasing Policies and Procedures and Delegation of Authority (DOA) requirements. The Regional Manager will also be responsible for identifying further opportunities to consolidate spend through local, regional or national contracts. Certain non-category contracts will be managed by the team as well as supporting administrative tasks.

This role will require a high level of travel in the first 6 months so as to establish relationships, expectation that it will settle to approximately 50% after that period.

 

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, mentoring and training to the designated regional procurement team.
  • Identifies and Drives significant Cost Savings Programs
  • Align sourcing strategies with Global Category Managers, Supervisor and other key stakeholders. Monitor compliance with Group Contracts (Category Managed)
  • Own certain Group Contracts (e.g. Uniforms, Waste, Pest Control etc)
  • Manage and streamline group procurement administrative tasks
  • Work with AP to eliminate waste in the receiving and payment process
  • Develop/implement personal and team objectives aligning to plant and corporate objectives.
  • Manage personal and team objectives to insure the KPIs are met
  • Provide service to the plants ensuring continuity of supply and quality
  • Actively works to reduce risk and number of single/sole source materials
  • Ensure that Policies, Procedures and DOA are followed.

 

Knowledge 

  • Bachelor's in Engineering, Business or related field, or progressive experience in purchasing field acceptable to management. Master's degree is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of plant purchasing and contract negotiations/ management
  • 7-10 years’ experience of which 3-5 should be at a manager level.
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills, as well as effective presentation skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Power Point, Word and Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical skills required.
  • SAP/ERP experience is highly desirable.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence all levels of employees and management, both inside the company and externally with suppliers.
  • Ability to make decisions or recommendations that are “data based” and align decisions with strategies. Considers the impacts of decisions on other parts of the organization
  • The position requires the ability to motivate direct or non-reports in the purchasing function as well as non-purchasing functions.
