Sr. Furnace Design and Construction Engineer

  • Manage capital expenditures for furnace portion of cold repairs and help set standards based on research testing experience industry developments.
  • Recommend design options for furnace rebuilds including cost of operation start to end.
  • Support engineering project teams for planning drawings material ordering and construction for furnace rebuilds.
  • Evaluation of furnace performance through the life.
  • Set and develop furnace design and construction standards.
  • Maintain active relations with company peers outside the USA.
  • Assist in updating furnace cold and hot repair schedules.
  • Organize activities for cold repairs and interface with project teams and operations.



  • Ideal candidate will possess a minimum of an Associate's degree in an engineering discipline: Mechanical, Civil, or Ceramic or equivalent with a minimum 3 years of experience in furnace construction.
  • Must have a working knowledge of furnace refractory steel and operational support system requirements.
  • Must be able to create and interpret drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Must be able to travel internationally as well as domestically.
  • Must be able to work in a hot plant environment including scaling ladders at high elevations.
  • Must be able to work well with people of all educational backgrounds as well as possess good leadership and team building skills.
  • Excellent communication skills are required both orally and written as well as strong organization and planning skills.
  • Normal office setting and plant manufacturing environment when in plants with exposure to heat fumes and moving machinery.
  • Hearing and eye protection must be worn in the plant as well as other Personal Protective Equipment PPE as required.
