Storeroom Clerk
Role Description:
The Storeroom Clerk is responsible for the coordination and operation of stores. The clerk must order and receive supplies from authorized suppliers to replenish stores and materials. Also responsible for supplier contact and proper ordering of supplies, accurate inventory, and disbursement records and for maintaining proper inventory level of supplies.
Key Responsibilities:
Understands and complies with position related safety SOP’s and work instructions, especially for Lockout/Tagout, Chemical Handling, Machine Guarding, Housekeeping, SQF, and Personal Protective Equipment.
• Maintain inventory records of stores items, tools, equipment, machine parts and assigned materials. Check data processing information for automated inventory control systems and arrange for correction of errors detected. Record stores items, tools, equipment, machine parts and materials received by storeroom.
• Take periodic inventories of assigned items and/or materials to verify inventory records and correct discrepancies. Take spot inventory cycle counts as directed.
• Prepare packing lists of items to materials to be returned to supplier or sent out for processing, reclaiming or repair. Maintain records of items returned or sent out and adjust inventory records accordingly.
• Check inventory record of items “on-hand” and review automated requisitions, make necessary adjustments or modifications and if required, forward for approval.
• Contact other plant’s personnel by telephone or electronic method concerning status of “Between Plant” orders for materials, machine parts or for the transfer of equipment or miscellaneous supplies. Follow up on shipping promise or delayed deliveries. Assist in arranging emergency transfer of supplies, parts, or materials.
• Prepare or process purchase requisition of an authorized supplier when balance on-hand reaches order point, or a new item is ordered. Arrange for approval by proper authority and forward approved purchasing requisition to supplier. Follow up on delayed or short deliveries of items ordered.
• Review periodically the inventory records and moving average values and initiate corrections.
• Responsible for coordination and control of the General Stores Material in the storage, handling, and flow of stores material from supplier through storeroom to operating departments.
• Recommend changes to order quantity, re-order point and planned minimum-maximum quantities when changing usage or delivery time is encountered. Execute changes upon management concurrence.
• Receive and interview supplier representatives. Contact authorized suppliers to determine best price and delivery date required items. Determine supplier who can best meet plant requirements at lowest price and forward approved purchase requisition.
• Survey potential suppliers (unauthorized) for price quotes, terms, delivery promises and other data as part of the Request for Quotation (RFQ) process and maintain such information in manual or electronic files as specified by policy. Determine supplier who can best meet plant requirements for new or substitute items or materials at lowers price and forward plant approved purchase requisition and supporting documents for approval when required.
• Notify plant personnel of required standard procedure for requesting stores items for withdrawal of tools or equipment. Notify truckers of stores items or materials to be delivered or transported within the plant.
• Report to supervisor any slow moving or obsolete items noticed and any major incidence of damaged or unaccounted for items.
• Receive, store and issue stores materials, tools, equipment or parts and record the stock movement.
• Use hand truck to deliver and pick up items to in-plant departments.
• Obtain Preventative Maintenance work orders and other planned maintenance work orders for maintenance day from SAP-PM system and identify parts required. Assemble and pre-stage parts with work orders.
• Identify and/or obtain maintenance day work order parts to facilitate accomplishment. Contact supervisor of any late delivery, missing or irregularities in availability of maintenance day work order parts
Requirements:
• Familiar with Personal Protective Equipment
• Minimum 3+ previous manufacturing experience
• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Associates Degree or equivalent experience preferred
• Must be detailed oriented with a high degree of accuracy; excellent follow-up and record keeping skills
• Possess the ability to organize and prioritize own workload and manage many high priority activities simultaneously
• Computer proficiency with MS Office, SAP, FiXX and other MRP systems
• A strong background in inventory control
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Familiar with Good Manufacturing Practices; experience in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma or 5S environment is preferred
