Role description: 

The Facilities Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a team of engineers supporting all Ardagh Glass Packaging – North America (AGP-NA) plants.  This role requires a strong understanding of industrial systems critical for the manufacturing of glass manufacturing including structures, utilities, industrial gases, compressed air, vacuum, water, cooling, combustion, batch, and dust collection.  Project management skills are necessary to lead the team in safely delivering capital projects from concept through commissioning.  This role is also responsible for maintaining standards, developing strategy, and supporting the Ardagh risk management program. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for resource allocation for engineering projects and plant support needs  

  • Execute facilities related projects in the plants during and between rebuilds  

  • Provide operational support and troubleshooting to assist plant teams as needed  

  • Collaborates with engineering leadership and project managers to align on resources for prioritized projects and manage the workload with internal and external resources 

  • Responsible to hire, on board, develop, and retain top engineering talent for facilties function within AGP-NA 

  • Develop and maintain engineering talent matrix by working closely with other engineering functional leaders, plant management, and HR 

  • Maintain a health map of facilties and mechanical systems across AGP-NA  

  • Collaborate and support plant organizations with respect to preventative and predictive maintenance of systems thru audits and joint meetings.  

  • Define, measure, and improve KPI's with respect to facilities and mechanical systems  

  • Mange facility and mechanical systems risk assessment process using industry standard tools, address higher risk facilities asset maintenance, repair, and replacement 

  • Contribute to capital prioritization process for budgeting and long range planning of investments 

  • Work with internal experts and external vendors in developing a technology roadmap for implementation in AGP-NA that will achieve improved performance, minimize down time events,  and drive continual cost reduction efforts 

  • Utilize the risk assessment as a tool to inform capital prioritization and allocation with engineering leadership 

  • Build a facilities Center of Excellence that comprises corporate engineers, plant engineering & maintenance, and operational excellence groups to implement a community of collaboration for best practice sharing and implementation 

  • Support risk management through faciltiies standards and execition of insurer identified opportunities 

 

Minimum skills / qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering 

  • Fifteen (15) years as a subject matter expert in facilities engineering  

  • Experience with technical problem solving, knowledge of multiple technologies concerning electrical, mechanical,  and environmental engineering 

  • Effective leadership, organization, and planning skills with the ability to handle changing priorities 

  • Works well with others and can facilitate discussions to reach consensus 

  • Knowledge and experience with project planning tools such as MS Project, risk analysis, and decision analysis 

  • Excellent communication with interpersonal and influencing skills 

  • Self-starter and ability to work in a team environment 

  • Ability to travel up to 75% 

 

Preferred skills / qualifications:  

  • Master's degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field  

  • 5 years experience supervising engineering teams 

  • Previous experience in glass manufacturing 

  • Previous capital delivery project management experience
