Role description:

The Furnace Process Improvement Engineer partners with plant personnel to provide technical assistance and training to improve plant performance. This role supports the implementation of new processes and procedures in the glass forming process. The Furnace Process Improvement Engineer works with employees in the plant to make sure plant personal adhere to Ardagh Group safety and forming best practices.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain servant leadership model instilling core values of Trust, Teamwork, and Excellence
  • Lead the process of Batch and Furnace on-site audits and perform pre-audit data analysis for operations
  • Coordinate, with Furnace Engineering and contractors, furnace draining and heat-up process
  • Work cross functionally with all engineering departments for rebuild planning
  • Manage the communication with plant Batch and Furnace teams through a Microsoft Teams monthly meetings, and participate in the organization of  the annual batch and furnace conference
  • Participate in furnace design and modeling activities
  • Support Furnace Engineering projects oriented to improve furnace stability, energy reduction, quality and environmental outcomes working with furnace operations and plant teams
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions implementation.
  • Maintain Furnace Engineering Sharepoint page
  • Drive people development by supporting onboarding efforts in batch and furnace for new plant hires such as Batch and Furnace Supervisors and Managers
  • Utilize JMP and SQL server data for statistical analysis
  • Participate in the creation and updating process of Technical Operating Procedures and Best Practices for Batch and Furnace departments in conjunction with Furnace Operations group
  • Contribute to emergency Hot-Repairs, replacing Furnace Engineers as needed
  • Complete other tasks and/or projects as required by manager

 

Minimum skills / qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical related field
  • Five (5) years of technical experience manufacturing glass containers
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft products
  • Ability to travel up to 50%

 

Preferred skills / qualifications:

  • Experience as a technical trainer
  • Lean Six Sigma certifications
