Role description:

The Director of Quality Systems is responsible for the design, plan, and execution of all quality system functions including quality systems, quality engineering, process and product validation, product release, non-conformance systems, complaint investigation, corrective/preventive action, process audit, document control, training, certifications and compliance to applicable regulatory and company requirements. This role designs, compiles, and analyzes quality trends and issues quality performance metrics and reports.

 

Responsibilities:

· Develop and implement the Quality Management System (QMS) that integrates policies, processes, and methods to inspect, measure, and validate incoming material, product, and manufacturing processes

· Oversee initiatives for maintaining or obtaining QMS/GFSI compliance at manufacturing sites

· Drive top-down support to ensure implementation, development, and consistency of standard practices for Quality and Food Safe systems

· Establish data-driven methods and tools to evaluate the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)

· Develop, implement, and communicate a clear strategic vision for quality to maximize employee alignment, engagement, and performance

· Ensure all quality systems at manufacturing sites are in full compliance with company and regulatory requirements

· Develop short and long-term quality assurance strategies in line with global initiatives and work with management teams across the company to set quality benchmarks

· Identify and drive continuous improvement of quality procedures and processes to ensure delivery of high-quality, cost-effective products to the customer

· Comply with environmental and food safety standards as set forth in plant policies and programs within the departmental responsibilities

 

Minimum skills / qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in quality, business administration, engineering, or a related field

· Five (5) years of experience in quality or a related field

· Three (3) years of experience leading a department

· Understanding of FSSC:22000, ISO14001, and ISO 9001 requirements

· Effective problem solver with the ability to work independently

· Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with various levels of corporate, plant management, as well as hourly team members

· Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

· Ability to travel up to 50%

 

Preferred skills / qualifications:

· ASQ certification(s)

· Lead auditor certification or demonstrated experience in leading audits

· Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma tools

· Excellent organizational and follow-up skills

· Competent in problem-solving, team building, planning, and decision making
