Tax Manager

Role description:
The Tax Manager will manage the income tax process for our multi-state manufacturing businesses which includes the preparation of income tax returns and estimates, quarterly and annual income tax provisions, along with developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders to provide value-added services to the business.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the U.S. federal and state income and franchise tax compliance process, including preparing the tax returns and associated tax work papers and making the associated timely tax payments
- Liaison between the tax department and third-party service providers
- Manage the federal and state quarterly and annual income tax provisioning and reporting under IFRS including liaising with local and Group finance teams, external auditors, and external tax advisors
- Review tax accounts monthly to ensure accurate balances
- Provide tax input for financial budgets, cash tax forecasts, tax provisions, accounting entries, deferred tax analysis, and financial accounting
- Assist with federal and state audits as they arise
- Analyze potential tax exposure and determine, in conjunction with the Director of Tax, the appropriate reserves to recognize and report according to group policy
- Support the Director of Tax in developing supportable tax return positions to minimize or reduce overall cash tax liability
- Prepare and maintain tax analyses and technical papers to formally document these positions and to be used in the event of any challenge during a tax audit
- Assist the Director of Tax in managing SOX 404 internal control procedures for tax processes and liaise with external and internal auditors in this regard
- Ensure, with significant support from the Group Tax team, that contemporaneous transfer pricing documentation is prepared annually
- Assist with tax-related special projects including planning, research, transfer pricing projects, modeling, etc.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including the Group Tax team as well as the local finance team to be viewed as a key member of the team who is providing value to the businesses
- Stay up-to-date on current law by reading technical publications and attending webcasts or live CPE events and making recommendations to the tax director on addressing changes to the tax positions for federal and state purposes
Minimum skills / qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field
- Five (5) years of accounting and corporate tax experience
- Three (3) years of experience in the manufacturing industry
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines while working in a team-based environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of the organization, external advisors, internal and external auditors
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and technical skills
- Possess effective project management experience and organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to travel up to 10%
Preferred skills / qualifications:
- CPA certification
- SAP experience in compiling information and creating reports
- OneSource Income Tax, OneSource Provision, and Bloomberg Fixed Asset experience
- PowerBI and/or Alteryx experience
