Trainee Feeder Forehearth Specialist

Role description
The Trainee Feeder Forehearth Specialist will work under the guidance of experienced feeder specialist to learn and assist in the operation, maintenance, and optimisation of feeder and forehearth equipment used in glass container production. This role provides hands-on training and technical development, preparing the trainee to progress into a full specialist role. Whilst not a specific mechanical engineering apprenticeship, there is scope for growth and development in that area
Responsibilities:
  • Assist senior engineer in operating feeder and forehearth equipment to ensure efficient glass container production.
  • Support the job change process by helping establish and maintain stable operation of feeder and forehearth systems.
  • Participate in maintenance and inspection routines, learning how to identify and resolve equipment issues to minimise downtime.
  • Observe and support adjustments to feeder and forehearth settings in response to container defects or process deviations.
  • Record operational data and assist in analysing equipment performance for continuous improvement.
  • Learn to identify malfunctions and understand escalation procedures for technical or mechanical problems.
  • Comply with all Health & Safety, environmental, and hygiene regulations while developing a strong understanding of safe working practices.
Required skills / qualifications:
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with an interest in industrial or manufacturing engineering.
  • Good problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn in a hands-on environment.
  • Basic computer literacy and good communication skills.
  • Commitment to Health & Safety standards and continuous improvement.
