Group Cyber - Vulnerability Manager

This is a Hybrid working contract with at least 2 days a week in the office.


Purpose of Role

The primary responsibility for the Group IT Vulnerability Manager is oversee the development, management and running of the Vulnerability Management capability across the organisation. The Vulnerability Manager manages the identification and analysis of security vulnerabilities and supports their remediation across infrastructure and applications.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage and maintain vulnerability monitoring toolsets in collaboration with IT and the Security Engineer
  2. Ensure vulnerability scans / assessments are run periodically in line with policies and standards across the IT, OT and Cloud estate
  3. Analyse results / events from the monitoring toolsets and assess the risk posed to Ardagh.
  4. Carry out analysis to determine the root cause of events
  5. Support incident response activities and reporting.
  6. Analyse virus / malware analysis efforts and support the management and investigation of malware outbreaks
  7. Identify key vulnerabilities and patches from external sources and support IT with the timely remediation of these vulnerabilities
  8. Ensure Cyber leadership is aware of current and emerging threats and vulnerabilities 
  9. Ensure the Security Operations, IT and Cyber teams are aware of all security technology developments that may help mitigate the risk from any emerging threats and vulnerabilities
  10. Develop and maintain an end-to-end vulnerability process, including reporting of vulnerabilities and escalation of critical vulnerabilities


Qualifications (or equivalent), knowledge and experience



  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science, IT engineering, or related field 
  • An MSc Information Security or equivalent would be an advantage 



  • Information Security and/or Information Technology certifications such as CISSP, OSCP, CEH, GIAC etc. are strongly preferred



  • Proven working knowledge of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidelines described in NIST SP 800-40 for Enterprise Patch Management 
  • Proven working knowledge of the SANS guidelines on Threat and Vulnerability Assessment and Managing Security Vulnerabilities 
  • Knowledge of various vulnerability management tools, technologies and processes
  • A technical understanding of vulnerability and malware analysis and the ability to assess risk
  • Understanding of event management solutions, and automation and orchestration platforms 
  • Ability to communicate the evolving threats and trends and report on KPIs and KRIs to Cyber leadership
  • Knowledge of how patch management takes place within organisation and how to support IT teams in ensuring systems are adequately patched
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to exercise mature judgement 
  • Organised with a proven ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines, and utilise time effectively  
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
