Accounts Assistant

This role is a key member of the National Finance Ireland (NFI) team for the Ardagh Group reporting to the AP Manager and working closely with the Group Finance, Tax and Treasury teams.
The individual will have the ability, commitment and vision to play an instrumental role in the NFI team in support of the relentless drive for operational excellence and process improvement for the team.
This is a varied position that will give you exceptional exposure into the financial reporting of a Global company.
Key Responsibilities:
- The candidate will be tasked with a number of varied duties which will include, but not be limited to:
- Process invoices using SAP, ensuring they are correctly allocated to G/L accounts and cost centres;
- Process SAP payment run and manual payments;
- Complete assigned SoX controls, including vendor bank details verification;
- Assist in the preparation of weekly cash forecasts;
- Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual balance sheets and income statements including required account reconciliations within internal reporting timelines;
- Drive improvements in the AP and monthly close processes;
- Manage and prioritise ad hoc information requests, performing high quality analysis and insightful information to support decision-making;
- Liaise regularly with Group Finance, Group Treasury, Group Tax and the internal and external auditors;
- Provide administrative assistance to the National Finance team as and when required;
- The Employee’s duties and/or specific responsibilities may be altered from time to time as the circumstances of the Company dictate.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent;
- Excellent knowledge of Excel and other MS office products (Outlook, Word and PowerPoint);
- SAP experience would be an advantage with strong IT/system skills a prerequisite;
- Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role, ideally in an industry environment;
- Basic knowledge of accounting i.e. debits/credits;
- Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- They must demonstrate good attention to detail and accuracy and a drive to achieve the highest of standards and levels of compliance and good practice;
- Energetic, with a high level of initiative, along with the ability to prioritise workload and aptitude for hard work;
- Drive and determination with a ‘can-do’ attitude;
- The person must be flexible regarding their duties and will be required to assist the National Finance team on ad hoc projects as they arise.
