Group IT PMO Lead

Role Description:

The role of the Group IT PMO Lead is to support the IT PMO within the IT Strategy, Architecture and Planning Team and align with other business and IT PMOs across the globe. The Group IT PMO Lead is also responsible for various methods and practices around provisioning IT into the business, improving the overall PPM maturity across the global organization, and tracking and reporting the conformance to plans and expectations of IT-oriented initiatives. The Group IT PMO Lead is responsible for supporting and enabling the organization’s projects, programs and structured work efforts across the Group. The Group IT PMO Lead ensures that the work of the PMO adds value, is relevant to the business and IT strategies across the organization, and meets the goals set for the PMO by executive management.


Additional responsibilities include assisting Group IT Business Relationship Management (BRM) with providing support and oversight of IT Projects and Programmes of Divisional and Group Portfolios; and, contributing to Quality and SOx Reviews of project documentation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads the identification and implementation of project management processes, methods, tools, guidelines and standards in order to establish a stable framework that supports all project teams and stakeholders to improve the probability of successful project delivery
  • Complete and distribute monthly portfolio level reports.
  • Manage communications from the PMO mailbox including regular reporting cycle requests; Group IT PMO communications; etc.
  • Coordinate, schedule and facilitate Stage Gate Review Board meetings with IT Senior Management to ensure adherence with Ardagh IT PMO Methodologies (Agile & Waterfall).
  • Develop and maintain IT PMO Reporting KPls for distribution to IT Senior Management.
  • Work with the Group IT BRM and PMO Manager to maintain the Ardagh IT PMO Methodology Guidelines, seeking contributions from Project Managers, Development Teams and IT Management to ensure that the methodology meet best practice.
  • Provides ongoing coaching and mentoring to PMO staff and project managers
  • Implement project standards across all projects in the portfolio and globally.
  • Develop necessary technical acumen to support effective administration of a PPM tool in support of IT Management Reporting requirements.
  • Prepare consolidated material from project reports for monthly review.
  • Configure and maintain project and team level dashboards in PPM tools.
  • Continue to manage the alignment of PPM tools with the Ardagh IT Project Methodology in the maintenance of existing functionality and the rollout of new functionality within the system.



  • Relevant 3rd level educational qualification.
  • At least five years of experience in a PMO role.
  • Formal qualification in Project Management (Prince2, PMI, PMP) preferable.
  • Precise attention to detail, with demonstrable experience in documentation.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team, and build strong working relationships with colleagues, clients and stakeholders.
  • Experience with using a Project Portfolio Management tool to support PMO reporting and activities.
  • Excellent people skills, able to communicate effectively and deal with the challenges of business change projects.
  • Experience facilitating workshops across business units and regions.
  • Excellent MS Office skills, including MS Excel data analysis techniques and MS PowerPoint
