Procurement Manager - IT Services

The Procurement Manager – IT Services position will be in Ardagh’s Chicago, IL or Fishers, IN headquarters. The incumbent will be accountable for sourcing IT Services in the US. 


Key Deliverables include:


  • Working with stakeholders to create and implement IT category strategy addressing business needs for competitive and innovative solutions to drive the digital transformation
  • Manage suppliers ensuring compliance and best in class commercial value (cost and cash) and world class service
  • Partner with strategic IT suppliers so that Ardagh will be ‘customer of choice’ for their innovative solutions enabling transformational value creation impacting top and bottom line and solutions that support Ardagh’s environmental and social objectives
  • Identify opportunities and solutions for ‘buying better and buying less/spending smart’ in IT Service category drawing on deep domain expertise and by working in close collaboration with the budget owners
  • Partner with IT and the Business to support Ardagh´s initiatives to harmonize systems and processes globally

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Accountable for category strategy development in IT Services and delivery of exceptional financial results (cost and cash) as well as agreed non-financial KPIs

Team Management

  • Set-up proper resources allocation and means according to category’s objectives as well as business priorities at a later stage by working closely with the Global IT Procurement Manager and key stakeholders
  • Support the transformation of the category, as part of the overall Procurement transformation roadmap to include adoption of methodology, best practices, expertise, and training. 
  • Promote a culture of knowledge sharing and close liaison between portfolio managers and other functions (finance, legal etc.)

Operational Management

  • Lead/orchestrate high value negotiations and tenders in IT Services Sourcing
  • Track levels of risk and provide management information on risk assessments and feedback via agreed risk reporting mechanism
  • Develop cross-functional way of working and align team skills to stakeholders’ expertise
  • Provide input and influences the use and development of key e-tools e.g. contract management, spend and transaction reporting
  • Execute as an active partner by providing innovative solutions
  • Drive the development of new market opportunities, new ways of working by integrating new technologies (digital etc.) 
  • Oversee supplier relationship management activities, selectively involving directly with significant suppliers and ensuring business counterparts are equally as engaged
  • Identify, develop and manage strategic business relationships to enable implementation of Ardagh’s strategy, revenue growth and new product development initiatives
  • Support the Budget preparation process
  • Create reports for upper management and benchmark Ardagh IT category spends

Business Partnering

  • Ensure proper business partnering with the VP IT for NA and team
  • Work with the Procurement/Logistics Leadership NA to provide operational Business partnering




  • Demonstrate commitment to the Ardagh core values through upholding our standards of business conduct, complying with Ardagh policies and procedures, and leading by example

  • Ensure the execution of key internal controls within the area of responsibility


Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant major
  • Master’s preferred
  • 8 years work experience in Business Services purchasing
  • Excellent Strategic Sourcing and category management skills; of which at least 5 years in IT Services Sourcing
  • Track record of successfully leading and delivering Procurement transformation and value acceleration programmes, as well as spend optimisation programmes such as Zero-Based Budgeting projects
  • Skilled in working as part of a geographically dispersed team and solid experience in working in a virtual team
  • Proven ability to work in a cross-functional team in a multicultural organisation
  • Effective communication and influencing skills, ability to convince and persuade others, experience in partnering with the IT function across an organisation
  • High level of business and financial acumen
  • Ability to think globally and act locally combining strategic thinking and excellence in execution with strong accountability and responsibility for achieving results
  • Resilience and ability to prioritise when facing conflicting demands and high workload
  • Strong and proven negotiation skills
  • Ambitious, high energy
