Graphics Technician

Role description
The purpose of the role is to develop and reproduce graphic artworks received from the client, agency or 3rd party provider into the Beverage Can’s dry offset printing process. Using the latest, innovative graphics software and workflows to ensure the highest quality and most consistent output. Repro should adhere to the internal print and repro guidelines, creating the optimum spot colour separation and apply trapping to prepare the files. These files will be utilised to manufacture the printing plates used in the commercial can printing process. Communicating with the Graphics coordination team to ensure that PDF’s for approval and quality control are sent within the required deadlines.
 
Key responsibilities

•    Prepare print ready files according to Customer artwork layout.
•    Ensure that artworks adhere to internal graphics guidelines and Origination order requests.
•    Provide artwork feasibility feedback using a combination of experience and latest software techniques. •    Consulting for clients and graphic agencies in developing the best solutions for the process. •    Ensure consistency and high quality by performing quality control checks of own work and others. •    Communicate with Graphics coordinators on lead times and completion dates.
•    Keeping assigned documentation in accordance with the applicable company rules.
 
Requirements
•    Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
•    Good organization of own work, proactive and meticulous attention to detail.
•    University level preferred with technical / Graphics background
•    Knowledge of the Adobe Software Suite (Acrobat, Illustrator & Photoshop)
•    Knowledge of Esko Artpro / PackEdge or Hybrid Packz (additional advantage)
•    Fluency in the English language (written and verbal)
•    Experience as a computer graphic designer in pre-press.
•    Knowledge of beverage can print process including dry offset techniques and/or experience in a FMCG Industry.
