Utility Operator

Responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks in one or more fields (e.g. carpentry; plumbing, etc.). Perform general cleaning and other tasks as assigned.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Comply with safety policies and practices and participate in the plant Safety Program.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment for self and all team members and equipment through daily maintenance, 5S, and housekeeping activities.
  • Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, etc.).
  • Performs minor painting, and carpentry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.).
  • Reconfigures, installs, positions, and remounts modular offices and space (e.g. furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power and specialty tools, dollies and hand trucks.
  • Clean rooms, hallways, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, parking lots and other work areas as required including dusting, vacuuming, dumping trash and mopping floors.
  • Clean light fixtures and replace bulbs as needed in office area and bathroom, as needed
  • Maintain inventory control of janitorial supplies.
  • Other housekeeping duties as required to maintain a high state of cleanliness throughout the plant.
  • Clean all areas of the environment, internal and external, including floors, walls, exterior grounds, etc., using equipment and machines provided.
  • Clean a variety of machines and equipment, ranging from large stationary equipment to small mobile equipment.
  • Assist in housekeeping of areas worked, keeping floor and equipment clean of product, water and garbage throughout shift and at end of shift
  • Executes the master cleaning schedule as assigned to maintain the cleanliness of equipment/facilities and ensures quality and food safety standards are maintained
  • Shall understand the Food Safety Policy, GMP’s, HACCP Principle and Food Safety Standard.

 

Competencies:

  • Building maintenance including minor plumbing, painting, and/or carpentry skills
  • Ability to safely and efficiently operate a forklift
  • Safe use of janitorial supplies and equipment such as floor scrubbers and buffers.

 

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years of janitorial and/or building maintenance experience

 

Site Specific Qualifications:

  • Ability to work all shifts including 8 or 12-hour shifts, daylight and off-shifts as well as weekends, holidays and overtime
