Main Purpose of the Position

The role of Inker & Unit spares technician in Rugby plant is to work as part of the Deco area team to carry out repairs, overhauls and exchange of items on the lines to support operational delivery. The role also involves execution of maintenance and process improvement in the Deco area with close relationships with production cell leaders.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Reporting to the Deco area Co Ordinator with a core focus on Inker refurbishment and associated unit spares required for a can decoration operation. This will include robust record keeping in CMMS system, regular reviews and improvement opportunity identification and learning/sharing best practice within the group.
  • Support of operational unit spare changes on inker or OV unit replacements working closely with operational technicians to change items safely, quickly and ensuring machine ramp up to meet KPI targets - eg Availability, spoilage, CPM output etc
  • Participation in SMED activities to reduce Pit Stop durations, enhance volume output and reduce spoilage.
  • Work with Maintenance Leader to create and optimise robust proactive maintenance requirements and checks within CMMS system (FiiX)
  • To develop and maintain excellent communication skills with the Engineering, Quality, CI and Production teams to support a ‘1 team wins’ approach.
  • Work with CI team to support in the delivery of Ardagh Best Practices within area.
  • Play an active role in Maintenance days and pit stop activities, ensuring the activities are complete, on-time and in full.
  • Support all project/ overhaul and start-ups with Commissioning plans.
  • Be involved with autonomous improvement projects as part of a team to identify, plan and execute quickly within a fast paced environment.
  • Coaching and mentoring of the site apprentices through their rotations in the area

Qualifications

  • Time served apprentice level or equivalent in mechanical engineering practices.
  • HNC/HND in mechanical engineering or 5+ years experience in directly relatable field

Languages

English written and spoken

 

Computer Skills/literacy

Microsoft office / SAP
