Primary Function:           Primary Function:

                                           Modify, rebuild, repair or overhaul all types of electronic/electrical equipment and controls.    Remove and/or install electronic/electrical equipment and parts.  Modify, maintain and install PLC programs.  Analyze and correct electrical/electronic problems. Starting Rate: $38.48 per hour

Tools and Equipment

 

Working Procedure:

  1. Modify, maintain and install PLC programs using various software such as but not limited to Rslogix, RSlinx, PLC workshop, CCW, RSnetworx, and Keyence softwire etc.  Assist in the development of new programs as directed.  Identify PLC problems. Troubleshoot and maintain updated documentation and wiring changes.
  2. Receive wiring diagrams, drawings, specifications and instructions covering scheduled and emergency repair, installation and inspection work to be done.
  3. Plan and perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and principles, wiring specifications, codes, properties of various materials and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.
  4. Analyze all types of circuits, wiring diagrams, networks and drawings as required to install repair, adjust, calibrate, construct, modify, replace or service all types of electronic devices and systems, electronic gauges, controls and regulator, power and distribution control equipment, measuring, recording, processing and indicating devices. Camera CPU replacements, replace laser controllers and replace lasers units.
  5. As required, assist in the design and implementation of laser etchings per customer requirements and specifications. Modify laser etching parameters for a quality compliant laser etch per quality specifications and/or samples.
  6. Make sketches of parts and layouts; design and construct adaptations or conversions of component parts including the necessary phases of development work.
  7. Perform Preventative Maintenance inspection of assigned equipment, report findings and take appropriate action.  Write and perform maintenance work orders as required.
  8. Make mechanical and electrical repairs as required in servicing electronic equipment, including assembling, modifying, repairing and replacement of individual electronic parts within components, circuit modules and printed circuit boards.
  9. Service electronic equipment by checking, testing and replacing faulty components, circuit modules, printed circuit boards, and similar electronic devices.
  10. Fabricate parts as required using machine and hand tools common to the trade.
  11. Maintain, install or repair all communication cables, power distribution cables and wiring, splicing as required.
  12. Perform any and all types of plant wide electrical maintenance including installation of electrical conduit.  Determine need analyze and make all necessary running adjustments, repairs, overhauls and replacement of parts to all electrical equipment.
  13. Maintain equipment performance using vasrious test equipment such as but not limited to AB dynamic 2500 hand held data collect, maintain records for analysis using softwasre such as but not limited to database data transfer to servers, Microsoft software such as but not limited to ecxel, maintain schedules for routine data collections and communicate findings.
  14. Advise maintainers, mechanics and other electrical maintenance personnel of standard operating procedures and requirements for electronic and electrical equipment and controls.
  15. At overhaul events assist Millwright with maintenance pm work to ensure machine equipment starts up with no electrical issues.
  16. Where applicable and knowledgeable, up to but not limited to training and educate millwright personnel on major overhaul preparations, assemblies of precision components and assembly. Assist assembling press major components such as but not limited to flywheel, bevel gear systems, eccentric, levers, chicken legs, ram lock pots, ram adjust gear boxes, adjuster shafts, locking bearings, guidepost stones, push post wipers etc.
  17. Notify supervisor/management representative of potentially dangerous electrical equipment noted and corrective action taken.
  18. Replace PLC I/O components such as but not limited to input cards/output cards, processors, analog input cards, digital input cards, Amour blocks, HMI’s
  19. Preprogram PLC processors for common failures such as redundant PLC processors, device logic I/O cards that require pre-programming for proper operation.
  20. Program drives using various software such as but not limited to CCW, Bootp and studio.
  21. Program/modify programs for HMI using various software such as but not limited to panel builder 32, factory talk view studio ME.
  22. Modifying HMI program to add NEW updates and changes to the systems for improve equipment troubleshooting, and functions.
  23. Maintain a back up for all programmable devices and equipment via flash drive, computer hard drives and external hard drives for safe keeping.
  24. Maintain open communication and updates to management, and maintenance department personnel with program changes, updates and modifications for improvements or troubleshooting.
  25. Modify/use plc software, drive software or applicable software to assist millwright and other personnel to troubleshoot equipment failures, or non-complaint operational needs.
  26. Assist vendors and OEM in equipment upgrades, installs and repairs.
  27. Replace/troubleshoot Servo drives and servo motors such as but not limited to Kinetix 350, 6500 etc. 
  28. Replace worn or damaged cables such as but not limited to turck cables, servo motor cables [power and feedback], ethernet cables, signal cables, encoder feedback cables.
  29. Operate equipment and assist production and quality as directed.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

 

  • Minimum of 5 or more years Electrical experience
  • Highschool diploma and/or GED required
  • Experience working in an industrial environment
  • Knowledge & experience working on Programmable Logic Controller (i.e. control Logix 5000,500,5)
  • Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and interpret related diagrams, Electrical/electronic tools, gauges, calibration & testing equipment, cameras, computers, hand & power tools, etc.
  • ability to troubleshoot and program Variable Frequency drives
