Purpose of Function
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Engineering Team Leader to join our Wrexham facility. In this role, you will manage and continuously improve the can manufacturing processes and related support functions involved in the production of aluminium beverage containers. You will lead a team to ensure operational excellence, safety, and cost-effective maintenance in a fast-paced environment.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the safe operation and condition of the Wrexham site
- Developing and implementing maintenance plans to improve equipment uptime, repeatability, and reduce manufacturing costs
- Keeping all engineering standards, procedures, and process documentation current and compliant
- Leading the implementation and management of the new CMMS system in collaboration with the central team
- Managing maintenance budgets and controlling spend to meet financial targets, including benchmarking activities
- Supporting size changeovers and maintenance activities on production lines
- Leading, managing, and developing a team of direct reports, including succession planning
- Overseeing can manufacturing and plant projects, including continuous improvement initiatives
- Setting, monitoring, and managing individual and team KPIs
- Leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities to minimize plant downtime
- Planning overhauls and managing critical spare parts inventory
Qualifications and Previous Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Time-served apprenticeship with HNC or equivalent qualification
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and AutoCAD
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within can manufacturing or automated high-speed production machinery
- Previous leadership or middle management experience is highly desirable
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workload, and demonstrate initiative

- Key contacts: Senior Management, Supervisory Teams, Production, Engineering, and Bonn Technical Center
