Purpose of Function
We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Technician to join our Engineering team at Ardagh Wrexham. In this role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and performing preventative maintenance on high-speed production equipment to meet customer specifications. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation and continuous improvement of plant machinery.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing safe working practices for routine and non-routine tasks
  • Managing and controlling the FIIX CMMS system by completing assigned work orders within agreed timeframes
  • Identifying and resolving process performance issues
  • Conducting daily routine checks and continuous monitoring of plant and production equipment
  • Performing routine, planned overhauls, and ad hoc maintenance, including height and diameter changes
  • Implementing mechanical improvements and supporting trials, new equipment installation, and commissioning
  • Monitoring spare parts and carrying out unit spares rebuilds as required
  • Providing training and support to personnel
  • Offering shift support/cover when needed
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping
  • Performing turning, milling, grinding tasks, and FLT driving when required
  • You may also be asked to perform other duties as requested by supervisors to improve overall plant performance, ensuring safety and skill considerations are followed.

Qualifications and Previous Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Time-served apprenticeship in an Engineering or Mechanical discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • HND/HNC or equivalent qualification desirable
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Competency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety practices
  • Previous experience in FMCG or a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure, prioritise workload, and demonstrate initiative
  • Flexibility and willingness to work across different areas and locations when required
